Things to do with Kids in Idaho Falls

Looking for something to do? This list is a great start!


Parks with Playgrounds:

  • Shadow’s park- great newer playground built for smaller toddlers.

  • Kate Curley Park- good for a little older toddlers and kids, lunch provided for kids in summer.

  • Community Park- good for a variety of ages. Has a smaller playset as well as bigger equipment. There is a trail around the park, covered picnic areas, and fields for other sports.         

  • Tautphaus Park- better for bigger toddlers and kids, lots of fun equipment.

  • Freeman Park- better for bigger toddlers or kids. There is also a trail for disc golf. Beautiful scenery all around that families like to take pictures in front of.

  • Reinhart Park- good for bigger toddlers, also has a splashpad in the summer.

  • Sugarmill Park- good for smaller and older toddlers/ kids.


FREE Activities:

  • Idaho Falls Public Library- browse for books while your kids push around shopping carts and look at the fish or join in on their other events.  The library hosts story time, kinderprep, little makers, different clubs, and various holiday parties (check their Facebook page for current events).

  • Walk the Greenbelt- take a walk or ride bikes around the falls, looking at the unique benches along the way.

  • Japanese Friendship Garden- take a walk by a small section of the Snake River to see running water and beautifully manicured trees and flowers in a peaceful setting.

  • The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho- offers free admission the first Saturday of each month, providing a crafty themed activity for the whole family.

  • Becker Pond (in Ryder Park)- children 12 and under fish for free.

  • Idaho Falls Temple Visitors’ Center



Low-Cost Activities:

  • ARTitorium- with new themes each month, the ARTitorium helps children to learn through crafts and play.  There is a big slide inside, a light up block table, a green screen, and various craft stations throughout.  They offer grab bags and separate classes.

  • Museum of Idaho- the museum has rotating exhibits as well as rooms that stay the same.  There is a discovery room for children to play in that keeps us coming back again and again.  There are also programs offered such as Night at the Museum, Museum Club, and Little Learners (more information on their website) that can be registered for.

  • Flip & Twist- they occasionally hold free family days or have low-cost other days with an open gym for kids to have fun getting their energy out!



Other fun Activities:

  • East Idaho Aquarium- the aquarium has more than just fish to look at, they also have fish to touch and a sloth and porcupine!

  • Kidstown- in this building, there are themed areas for children to play in, as well as a smaller closed off area for children under two. On their website, there are discount days listed and they teach dance and preschool as well.

  • Leo’s place- yummy pizza, great play area, and arcade. My kids always sleep well after!

  • Blast off- there is a $5 minimum spending amount per person, but they have a great play area for kids, as well as a smaller area for younger kids and an arcade. They have lazer tag and a small mini golf area.

  • Ijump- there are deals for certain days on their website to jump on big trampolines, parents get in free with a paying child. Make sure to pee first!

  • Idaho Falls Zoo- a great zoo to see a lot of animals in under two hours. There is a small play area and free goat petting. Cheaper tickets available on Groupon.

  • Farmers Market- every Saturday May 6-Oct 26 on Memorial Drive you can walk by and see what local vendors have to offer. There are lots of cute dogs that people bring to walk!



Places to Eat-

  • Arctic Circle- their playground is fairly good for toddlers and it’s fun to sit down and eat a treat while watching the kids play.

  • Mcdonald’s- it’s nice to get a box of cookies and a drink while the kids play.

  • Lucy’s- they don’t have a playground, but they let kids write on their tables with dry erase markers, which is super fun while you wait for your delicious pizza.

  • Carl’s Jr.- has a play area.

  • Chick-fil-a- eat your chicken in peace while your kids play in a closed off kid’s area.
